Ambassador back again on indian roads with Encore under Rs 5 lakh


The latest Ambassador Encore is with new BS IV 1.5-litre diesel engine gives more power and torque than the previous car with powersteering, better vehicle control, improved gradient and overall with better fuel efficiency.

This taxi segment specialist C K Birla group Hindustan Motors Ltd. has priced the new Ambassador Encore at Rs. 4.97 lakh (ex-showroom Kolkata) and HM now prepared to sell the car in the 17 metropolitan cities with production unit in Hooghly to meet the demand for the Encore. It is available in lesser price than the legacy as its length is reduced to below 4 meters.

Chandan Bose Hindustan Motors’ National Sales Head formally announced the price after which the West Bengal government had recently issued 2,000 permits for the no-refusal taxi segment and another set of 2,000 similar permits is expected to be released in November.

Uttam Bose Managing Director & CEO, Hindustan Motors Ltd., stated at the launch, “It is a game-changing offer from HM which has always accorded highest priority to customer's needs and purchasing power. The company made significant investment in terms of money and man hours to upgrade its BS III 1.5-litre diesel engine to BS IV standards and OBD 2 level. Yet it has chosen not to pass on the expenditure to customers. Through value engineering and cost-efficient manufacturing, HM is able to offer Ambassador Encore at this amazingly low price without any compromise on quality.”
