The German car giant Volkswagen is now all set to upload its new 1.2 litre TSI motor into the Vento. Like the Polo GT TSI, the Vento GT TSI will come with a seven-speed dual clutch DSG automatic gearbox featuring ‘Sport’ and ‘Manual’ modes (the latter with tiptronic function), however, it is unlikely to feature paddle shifters as of now.
Maintaining as per the market standards and customer needs is extremely important and Volkswagen is doing just that, having introducing their 1.2 litre direct injection turbocharged petrol motor that has replaced the 1.6 litre indirect injection naturally aspirated petrol engine in the hot Polo. The 1.2 Turbo Stratified Injection (TSI) engine makes the same 105PS of power as the 1.6 litre engine but develops 22Nm more of torque while being more fuel efficient.

Apart from the new engine, gearbox, ‘GT TSI’ badging and GT branded door step garnish, the Vento GT TSI will remain identical to the current Vento on the styling on sale as of now.
However, Skoda also uses the 1.6 litre petrol engine in its Rapid mid-size sedan which means that the 1.6 litre motor could continue to do duty for a while longer in India.
Expected to be launched soon, it remains to be seen if Volkswagen will discontinue the 1.6 litre Vento petrol with the introduction of the Vento GT TSI. Going by the past trend of the company it would be safe to assume that the 1.6 litre petrol engined Vento will be phased out as the new petrol powertrain will make the Vento more powerful and economical.
