"Anniversary Edition" from Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest passenger car maker recently has launched the Anniversary Edition of the Alto 800 hatchback. It is a known fact that the Alto 800 is among the most successful cars in the Indian market at present and has been performing consistently since its launch.

The Alto 800 has been introduced to commemorate the completion of the one year of the model in the country's market. Only recently, the auto maker had launched the MusiK Edition of the Alto K10 and now, with the launch of the Anniversary Edition of the Alto 800, the tally has been taken to two. Industry experts feel that the introduction of the Anniversary Edition is an excellent ploy by the company to attract buyers in the festive season. According to reports and statistics, there is no other brand that is trusted more in India than Maruti Suzuki. In addition, analysts suggest that the Anniversary Edition is likely to do well in the market without any advertising or marketing campaign. Sources close to this development suggest that Maruti Suzuki is hoping to maintain its dominance in the Indian car market despite unfavourable conditions. To ensure this, the company is banking upon these special edition variants.

The Suzuki on the Alto 800's 1st year anniversary, Maruti Suzuki has introduced an "Anniversary Edition" variant of the car, the special edition celebrates the birthday of the Alto which is the product of Maruti-Suzuki joint venture which produced revolutionary editions in the world car market.
The Anniversary Edition of Alto is made very special with New purple haze paint job, Body graphics, Refreshed seat fabric, Blacked out B-pillar, Rub strips on the flank, Rear parcel tray, Body coloured left wing mirror, Optional stereo system.

Ever since, Maruti has managed to ship out well over 200,000 units of the Alto 800, which is sold both domestically as well as in other emerging international car markets. The Alto 800 Anniversary Edition is priced at 3.12 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi.

Notably, most of the above changes are already available on the top-end VXi version of the Alto 800. In that light, it seems likely that the Anniversary Edition of the Alto 800 is based on the lower LXi variant. The car continues to motor on with the 796 cc-triple cylinder F8D engine that saw a revamp last year.

The revamp resulted in the engine outputting 48 PS-69 Nm. The Alto 800 uses a 5 speed manual gearbox with an all-new cable shift mechanism. The car is also available with the CNG-petrol dual fuel  option in select cities of India. The Alto 800's LXi and VXi variants can be specified with the driver's side air bag as an optional extra.

The onset of the festive season in India sees a slew of car launches, along with a similar number mild refreshes/special edition versions. The Alto 800's "Anniversary Edition" is one such car model. Over the past few weeks, Maruti Suzuki has introduced refreshed versions of two other hot selling hatchbacks such as the WagonR Madhavan Edition and the Alto K10 Musik Edition.

It launched at an ex-showroom (New Delhi) price of Rs. 3.12 lakh, the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Anniversary Edition has been equipped with a number of added features to make it an attractive package. Although the specifications of the car remain the same, tweaks have been made to the appearance and interiors. This variant of the Alto 800 gets purple haze body colour and new body graphics, which are likely to enhance the style quotient of the vehicle. Other changes that have been made include the addition of new seat upholstery, blackened B-Pillar, body side mouldings, door trims, rear parcel tray and body coloured outer rear view mirror (ORVM). In addition, customers willing to shell out a little more can get a music system, which comes as an option with this edition of the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800.
